Self-initiated behavioral change and disease resurgence on activity-driven networks

چکیده
We consider a population that experienced first wave of infections, interrupted by strong, top-down, governmental restrictions and did not develop significant immunity to prevent second (i.e. resurgence). As are lifted, individuals adapt their social behaviour minimize the risk infection. two scenarios. In first, reduce overall activity towards rest population. scenario, they maintain normal within small community peers (i.e., bubble) while reducing interactions with both cases, we possible correlations between change, reflecting for example dimension certain occupations. model these scenarios considering Susceptible-Infected-Recovered epidemic unfolding on activity-driven networks. Extensive analytical numerical results show i) minority very active changing may nullify efforts large majority population, ii) imperfect bubbles be less effective than an reduction interactions.

Resurgence of integrated behavioral units.
Two experiments with rats examined the dynamics of well-learned response sequences when reinforcement contingencies were changed. Both experiments contained four phases, each of which reinforced a 2-response sequence of lever presses until responding was stable. The contingencies then were shifted to a new reinforced sequence until responding was again stable. Extinction-induced resurgence of p...
متن کاملEnglish Language Teachers' Views on Self-initiated Professional Development
Keeping pace with the continuous changes and innovations in the field of English language teaching is considered to be a necessity for the quality of teachers' teaching. There are numerous approaches to teacher development, among which self-initiated development stands as one of the noticeable trends. Although teacher development is crucial for the quality of education, it appears that there ar...
متن کاملA model of resurgence based on behavioral momentum theory.
Resurgence is the reappearance of an extinguished behavior when an alternative behavior reinforced during extinction is subsequently placed on extinction. Resurgence is of particular interest because it may be a source of relapse to problem behavior following treatments involving alternative reinforcement. In this article we develop a quantitative model of resurgence based on the augmented mode...
متن کاملThe Validity of Self-Initiated, Event-Driven Infectious Disease Reporting in General Population Cohorts
BACKGROUND The 2009/2010 pandemic influenza highlighted the need for valid and timely incidence data. In 2007 we started the development of a passive surveillance scheme based on passive follow-up of representative general population cohorts. Cohort members are asked to spontaneously report all instances of colds and fevers as soon as they occur for up to 9 months. Suspecting that compliance mi...
متن کاملDistributed Agreement on Activity Driven Networks
In this paper, we investigate asymptotic properties of a consensus protocol taking place in a class of temporal (i.e., time-varying) networks called the activity driven network. We first show that a standard methodology provides us with an estimate of the convergence rate toward the consensus, in terms of the eigenvalues of a matrix whose computational cost grows exponentially fast in the numbe...
